We're new, can you help us??
Didn't think it could be done... Back in early August, the Dana calico bite was off the charts. After nailing at least 20 calicos-- nine legals--in a bubbly current break in Capo, I ran into 2 brand new kayak fishing hopefuls, Steve and John. Plastic steam vapors were still surrounding their new X-Factors, purchased from none-other-than Andy's OEX Sunset shop. These guys had more questions than a teenage boy in a Mexican Whore House. We swapped numbers and I pointed out one Capo Reef where they might find some fish. Well, the phone calls kept coming. Each with more fish stories than the previous. Then the big question: Will you take us to La Jolla? I did, and here's what happen. John's getting towed without realizing it. Thank God Yani brought a gaff. Hooked for life... You know, I've made alot of mistakes in my life, but even the old girlfriends have never made me consider changing my phone number. Thanks Andy. |

Love that second pic. Are you going to teach them the fine art of Mediterranean cuisine too? We need the follow-up food shots.

Yani -
Just don't give them any (more) tips on transporting their yaks - the freeways are dangerous enough already! |

Where's mine??? This story is a de-facto
summation of my yellowtail summer: Watching Other People catch my fish! (including those sleepless mid-summer 2am nites with yucky dead squids, preying for a WSB... Oh, I saw plenty of those get caught by Other People too! And let's not forget the Miracle Day when Adi caught two WSB, while I was sitting on the wrong spot wondering what all the comotion was all about?) Where' mine? In Other People's Freezers!! It's no wonder I lost weight this summer... |
