Old Rod Wall Mount

Recently, my dad gave me a handful of old rods and reels. This one in particular belonged to his Uncle(my Great Uncle). Can't really find any info on this to know how old it actually is. Anyone here happen to be familiar with older rods that might have a ballpark date for it?

Eagle Claw "Challenger" by Wright & McGill
No. CG401 6-1/2' Trolling Rod

Anyway, given its condition, I knew I'd never fish it, but I thought it would make a cool wall-mount! Got some unfinished wooden curtain rods and stained them in a silver/grey finish. Mounted them above some artwork and a few vintage CA plates from my collection. Pretty stoked on it. Thought I'd share!

I Like the display idea, way better than stashed in a crammed garage.

The rod adds to your antique room decor -- well done.

If the reel is of comparable age as the rod, Penn did not finally start making reels to match the Newel conversion kits until the '80s. Underneath the Eagle, there are letters, "SKO 87" could that be the rod wrapper's initials and the year it was wrapped? Rod is in relatively good condition, but is that too recent? Wood-handled rods were more popular in earlier decades. Eagle claw has been around since the 1920's so who knows?

This was one of the few rods I bought out of a store before I started wrapping -- late 70's. Does anyone remember this place? They were on Pier Avenue, and Jerry opened a second store on Aviation Blvd.
