Lowrance Hook2 5 HDI Questions

So i recently purchased an Outback and it came with the Lowrance Hook2 5 HDI fishfinder. It's the splitshot version so it's a High CHIRP/200kHz and DownScan Imaging (455/800kHz).
I rockfish a lot at 200-300' of water and this thing had a hard time reading the bottom.
Any way to get a 83/200 transducer to work with this? Or do i sell it and get a Ti? any other ideas??

You should be able to read the bottom in 200-300', but if you go over a canyon that is much deeper it will cut out. I had the same issue.

Call Lowrance and they will give you a part number for a compatible transducer with the lower kHz if there is one.

I asked them the same question about the Tripleshot version last week. It looks like these head units are designed to only work with one transducer each (or a very limited selection). All the options seem to only have 200Khz "Wide Angle" CHIRP as the lowest frequency.

83/200 transducer

https://www.lowrance.com/lowrance/ty...ucer-c94e8aee/

This is supposed to be for use with the hook 2 series. might be worth a shot. fwiw the customer service people at lowrance are not technicians. they really dont know about their products so dont take their word on most of the stuff like this. Just happened to stumble upon this while looking for something else and remembered this thread.

I have a 7TI but I had no problem seeing the bottom at 300' the last few trips and had to switch to that setting because on the Solo Skiff while moving above 6 mph my screen was getting a lot of interference on the 83Hz setting. I figured it has to do with cavitation, but switching to high chirp the sonar has a good screen again even going over 13.5 mph. I know the Hook2 series has a lot of issues but it might be connection problems or settings other than the transducer.

One more thing to consider....I use a Hook Reveal that is supposedly only compatible with the splitshot transducer. I wasnt excited on the 50/200 freq’s and decided to gamble with a transducer that allegedly wasnt compatible.

Went with this 83/200 Lowrance 000-10976-001 HDI... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AYE2VAO...p_mob_ap_share

Plug is for sure not compatible so I got an adapter... Lowrance 7 PIN XDCR Adapter to HOOK2 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077PDKLYD...p_mob_ap_share

With one trip under my belt I can tell you I’m 99% its actually compatible despite Lowrance saying its not. The only reason I’m not saying 100% is because I have yet to mark a YT with it...but I can see the bottom, bait fish, rockfish etc

If you have amazon prime, I would gamble because the return process is so easy with prime returns. If it doesnt work just dry it off and return it hah.
