8.02.19 La Jolla 10 miles out

Wow, those Solo Skiffs look awesome. Sure a fast way to cover a lot more water without the huge expense of boats.

I was out there Saturday and Sunday without any luck. Seems like the masses of fish moved out of the area Thursday Friday. Or all the fish dove deep and we’re shy from all the boats

Thanks for sharing the video. Always cool to see that.

I was out on Sunday. Made bait inside the kelp and went out about 7-8 miles straight west. Trolled around and looked for life.
No patties, nothing but a juvenile GWS That cruised over. That will keep your attention on a 27 inch wide kayak

Ended up coming in a and got a couple nice copper rockfish, a decent sheephead and nice ling cod. Lost a behemoth of ling at the boat. Fish came up spit the hook, threw up an octopus and swam back to the depths.

cheers

Wow, awesome! Next time I ll go play with the lings too. I found an awesome spot that I didnt hit because I was too busy chasing dolphins and looking for tuna also.

Spent all day cruising out of la Jolla, cruised nside missing bay to take a break, and went back out to la Jolla to slam calicos and bonitas.

I ll go out again next Saturday but plan on spending more time fishing than cruising, and maybe bring home a fish or two.

Hopefully I can land some calicos, barracudas, bonitas and macks for lobster season, and maybe a ling, hali, yellowtail, or the holy grail WSB.

Either way, better fishing than working.

Hey Todd, 27" that's provably as wide as it was, at least!

3.5 horsepower.

.95 liter (.3 gallon) built in gas tank gets me around 11 miles, I would guess.
I also carry a 1 gallon gas container.

Where did you launch out of? If MB and you went straight out 9 miles, then yes you were there.
