La Jolla shores Friday 5/23?
The NOAA reports sound pretty bleak for wave height.

Bleak meaning small or bleak meaning "it's going to be a tough launch"?

Busy day planned for tomorrow. I hope to be able to get out for an hour or 2 before sunset. Keeping an eye on the weather and web cam. By the way it looks like they are fixing up the launch in time for the pending rain. Hope it holds up.

I went out last night to brutal surf and nasty wind (It was worth it!). It looks like it has died down a lot this morning. There were a number of people on the beach that thought I was crazy for going out last night due to the conditions. But unless something totally outrageous happens I will be out Fri. morning regardless.

At least on the news, but you know how they are, they are calling for high winds, possible thunderstorms for tonight and tomorrow.

By my forecast charts it will be Interesting. I'll predict 3-4' faces for a very wet launch, and south winds 15-18 knots all morning. (100% sleep-in day IMHO.)

Looks like a couple of recreational kayakers going out now.
Weather is keeping me indoors today...for now.

I went by the launch at lunchtime. Very windy and some rain, but the surf wasn't bad. Down at the pier it was a different story....

I've been on Surfline for over an hour trying to get a little useful info, calling friends that live on the sand and are too lazy to look out the window (just as useful info). Surfline report : terrible unsurfable conditions, go ahead and find something else to do, and poor water quality. I check here and all my questions are answered, thanks Doug, in ten minutes my day will improve dramatically (thumpy beachbreak, with stiff offshore wind ).

I just consulted the tide charts. Today and tomorrow slow moving tides. Looks more like a day to be in the garage working on kayak modifications and gear maintenance.
