1. The contest is based on the following points system: Yellowtail, white seabass, and halibut will each count for ONE point per pound. Points will be tracked and rounded to the first decimal (1/10th of the pound). For example, a 11 pounds 8 ounces fish (11.5 pounds) will get 11.5 points; 30 pounds 14 ounces fish (30.875 pounds) will count as 30.9 points.
One bonus point will be added to each submitted fish that is caught on an artificial lure. Fish must be at least TEN pounds to be eligible for submission. Fish caught during the Big Waters Edge/WhiteSeabass Tournament and Steve Moyer Memorial Tournament will be eligible for a one point bonus. |

2. All fish must be hooked, fought, and landed from a kayak, by the submitting angler to be eligible for submission. Fish caught in Mexican waters (including the Sea of Cortez) or on mothership trips will be allowed, however kayaks may not be attached in any way to another vessel when the fish is hooked. THE USE OF MOTORIZED KAYAKS IS NOT ALLOWED.

4. To be eligible for WCW submission, angler must submit their fish the same day the fish was caught, or the latest by midnight (Pacific Time) the following day. For example: if the fish was caught on Tuesday, the fish must be submitted by midnight on Wednesday. The exceptions are mother-ship or Baja/other trips, where the fish must be submitted the same day or by midnight the following day upon return. LATE SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

6. Submission requirements:
Each angler’s submission must be accompanied by one photo of the angler with the fish, preferably on the kayak. In addition, for each fish submitted, the weight needs to be supported by either: 1. Certified weight at OEX. No additional pictures needed. 2. Documented weight at other certified weigh station (Point Loma or Mission Bay sport-fishing landings, Dana Point, etc). One picture of certified weight slip must be submitted. 3. One photo of the fish on a measuring tape showing its total length in inches. The fish must be weighed on an accurate scale. Reported fish weight will be compared to length to verify accuracy. Note: The first 2 weigh verification methods (certified weight) are highly encouraged. If you plan to play WCW competitively with high ambitions for the top placement, get certified weight of your prize catch. Big Water’s Edge encourages the responsible management of our fisheries. The rules of this contest allow for catch and release fishing. Please do not keep more than you can eat. For current size and bag limits please visit The California DFG website: http://www.dfg.ca.gov/ |

Jackpots
Four optional yearly jackpots (Heaviest YT, Heaviest WSB, Heaviest Halibut and the Heaviest Slam (all 3)) are the same like in WCW 2007. Yearly Jackpots Cash payout will be awarded for the top 3 biggest fish in each category. Payout is as follows: 1st place - 50% 2nd place - 30% 3rd place - 20% The cost of entry is $20 per category. A small Paypal fee will be subtracted from each entry, the remainder of which will go into the jackpot payout. All jackpot contestants must enter Jackpot PRIOR to catching/submitting their JP fish. The four Jackpot categories are: 1. Heaviest Yellowtail 2. Heaviest Halibut 3. Heaviest White Seabass 4. Heaviest Slam (largest total weight of all three species) Monthly Jackpots NOTE: will not be running after July 2008. The biggest fish (yellowtail, white seabass or halibut) caught that month takes it all. The cost of entry is $10 per month. A small Paypal fee will be subtracted from each entry, the remainder of which will go into the jackpot payout. All jackpot contestants must enter Jackpot PRIOR to catching/submitting their JP fish. Note: all Jackpot submissions will be under extra scrutiny by WCW officials. Only the first 2 verification methods (certified weight at OEX or a picture of a certified weigh-in slip from other certified weigh stations) are accepted for JP submissions. JP submissions without verifiable proof of certified weight will not be accepted. The yearly and monthly jackpots will be determined by actual fish weight to one decimal place. Just like regular WCW submissions, jackpot submissions can be upgraded. Jackpot submissions must be caught on or between June 28, 2008 and June 27, 2009, and are subject to WCW 2008 submission eligibility requirements. You can enter Jack Pots via BWE Forum Paid Subscription feature. Once you select the appropriate Jack Pot, you will be routed to complete the payment via PayPal.
You must have an account and be logged in to BigWatersEdge forum to complete your Jack Pot payment. 1. Click on User CP 2. Click on "Paid Subscriptions" 3. Choose the JackPot you wish to enter and click on "Order" button 4. You will be routed to PayPal to complete the transaction. Note: You can only "order" one Jack Pot at a time. For sake of convenience, you have the option to enter all 4 yearly jackpots or all 12 monthly Jack Pots at once. |

2. How do we register for the year long? 3. Can we get our JP money back if we don't catch any fish? |

Am I correct in assuming here that: 1). all jackpot fish must be weighed from a certified scale in order to win that jackpot and/or big fish catagory. 2). that no BWE moderator or employee is entered in this contest to avoid pregidous or bais opinions. 3). any jackpot fish that is weighed from a hand scale may be disputed?.

This is what turns me off about WCW. Seems as though the aspect of "competition among friends" has gone out the door. Maybe all participants with a commercial association should also be DQed. Wouldn't want any bias opinions or prejudices based on potential business and advertising opportunities. |
