Marina del Rey artificial reefs
Launched at first light from ramp and caught 3 Spotties on the troll out of the harbor. Don't have a GPS on my finder but I've found the reefs before and I know the rough location. Metered around in glassy conditions for a while until I found a fishy looking spot. First drop got slammed by a fat 23" Calico. My PB. Second drop 22" Calico. Third drop 20" Sandy. Bite was hot and lasted about an hour and a half. Ended up with 7 Calico and 4 Sandies. All well over 14". Fish caught on 3/4 underspin slow rolled on the bottom in 65 to 70' of water. All fish released. Wind started to pick up and the bite shut down so I headed in and was off the water by 11 or so. Amazing morning with no other boats for miles. Love fishing on a weekday. |
