You can find them halfway down the Pacific side of the peninsula. Below that, I think the water is too warm for them. Then again, Ive never fished points south of there, so I could be wrong. I plan on fishing Mag Bay at least once before I leave this planet though....

Great report Roger. Always great to have you visit. You should do it more often. Thanks for all of the goodies that you delivered.

Great photos of fish!
I especially like the shots of the little nooks and crannies that you were catching them in. Did you get a chance to fish Estero Coyote or were the corvina, grouper and jack crevalle from Estero La Bocana? |

How many days total was this trip, including traveling. I'm dying to get down there. I might have to jump on the next one with you.

All caught in Coyote Estero. Report from La Bocano Estero was slow so I didn't attempt. The reports of fishing on the reefs that lay just offshore were very good for WSB, YT and Grouper. Unfortunately for the second time in two years, the surf was big to launch from the beach.

I was there a total of 9 days; Departing Sat and arriving a week later on Sunday. A total of 5 full fishing days. It's far and when driving alone I like to break up the drive into 2 days. In years past when I've gone with friends, we'd make the drive in one day which would add a couple of days to the time spent surfing/fishing. Its roughly 13 hours from the border.

Man, I gotta say, I'm mesmerized by those calicos that you caught - and I keep checking out the rocky area they came from. I fly fish for calicos at Zuniga jetty - I'm heading down to B.Asuncion over Thanksgiving and my goal is to hook some nice calicos on fly down there. Those photos are freaking me out! Is that Isla Asuncion? I've heard that there spot was good - I know Abreojos/E.Coyote well but the islands off B.Asuncion are new to me - is it possible to paddle (PA14) to the other island - I think it's called Isla Roques? And, man, if you have more photos of the set up, fish, camping, every day life... I think I speak for many of us here... we're fiending for them. Thanks man! |

My biggest fish this trip was around 6lbs. Saw several followers in the 8-10lb range. Heres a few from last years trip.

Are you fricking kidding me?????
I'm going over Thanksgiving but I have the last week in September and first week in October off every year - I've whipped my little brother into a froth about calicos on the fly down there so we may cross paths if you're down there that at that time. |
