I believe most guys use a swivel with ~3 feet of leader and have a 2-4oz egg sinker above the swivel. 30-40# leader is sufficient, some use flourocarbon. I carry spare leaders with swivel and hook tied on for quick re-rigging. Fish the reel with free spool or light drag and clicker on... |

I use sinker sliders with torpedo sinkers so I can change weights without retying. But egg sinkers are a little better near kelp or structure.
