Makobob update
Bob has been dealing with a foot infection for a while now. 5-6 weeks ago he was at the VA for surgery. The surgery site developed an infection internally, but it went undiagnosed, as the symptoms were attributed to the foot infection. It became septic, and took him down on Sunday morning. His cardiologist discovered the internal infection yesterday, and has had him on a rigorous antibiotic schedule to clean things up. They discovered that his arteries were 90% occluded as well. He has been having difficulty breathing the past day or so, and as a result, they accelerated his surgery timetable, and he'll be having an angioplasty tomorrow morning. He's at Tri-City hospital in Oceanside in room 129, no current ETA on when he might be released, it will likely be dependent on the results of the angioplasty tomorrow. He expects that he will not be traveling to Baja until at least the start of next year. Those that have trips planned are still welcome to travel on their own, but Bob won't be along for the ride. Keys are available in the usual place. Jason |

I work nearby and will go see him afterwork tomorrow if they'll let me in. If anyone has any ideas of something that would help make his day a little better let me know and I'll try to do it. Keep in mind no food cause of the heart, diabetes and they probably won't let him eat most things while in the hospital.

Hey Monstah - he's requested books to read. I brought him a couple of Gierach paperbacks yesterday, but as fast as Bob reads, I'm sure he could use more.

Just saw Bob he's very appreciative of the well wishes and in good spirits. They're still working on the infection before they can clear the blockage so he's not out of the woods but he seemed stable. Hopefully he'll be home in a few days.

well wishes
Bob, I wish I could be there to help you get through your ordeal and to help you out with heading up those scheduled trips for the remainder of this year.
I will get in touch with you when I get back to Calif in late October so I can come and see you. Keep us all posted, there are many in this community that are concerned about you. And remember PARADISE (Baja) awaits you. |

I talked to him on the phone today and he sounded in very good spirits. A possibility he said of leaving the hospital on Tuesday.

I had a nice chat with makobob last evening and his infections seem to be pretty much under control now. If all goes well for the week end, he will have the arterial rotor rooter procedure mon Monday and hopefully home by Wednesday.

Roberto,
The prayers of everyone at the restaurant are with you, amigo. I'm glad to know you are getting good care and hoping to see you back down at your place when you are able. Baja isn't the same without you there. Just want you to know how grateful I am to call you my friend. Take care amigo, Paul |
