When I was still figuring it out, I tried to launch my tandem with my buddy at Hospitals because "the kelp was really close" and we were going spearfishing. Paddled into some five foot barrels over the reef and fully pitchpoled. My buddy was sitting up front and he flew right over my head by about six feet. We lost some carbon fins, two masks, two snorkels, and about $80 worth of lead weights.
Another time, I tried to take my wife kayak diving when it was heavy, and she almost killed me for yelling "just paddle harder" right before we rolled the boat. That was the most dangerous thing I've ever done, at least as far as my dignity and healthy relationship are concerned, and why we call it the divorce boat to this very day. Been in a dinghy with lighting bolts touching down one time. That sucked. |

Closed out 12 foot solid witches rock in Costa Rica. Multiple wave hold downs. Maxed out sets breaking in 5 feet of water. Rip current saved my life.
Never kayak fishing. That's like dying while golfing.

Here's my most recent "moment"...
I'm standing up on my truck tailgate, weighing out my latest fish which is almost at long as I am tall...the game clip slips out of its hold, just about impaling my heart...but instead slides down my chest...(yes, I'm completely naked)... See game clip below...wondering if it's defective. Please help. Jim

1. 1995, going camping my jr year, driving to Jalama to surf, crossed a bridge on the windy road, old truck, lost control, hanging off a cliff with the rear end and back tires on the dirt berm. Got out of the truck, and it rolled down 150' cliff.
1 min of total fear. 2. 2013 mountaineering a 14k+ peak in the Easter Serria called Middle Palisade and my partner dislodged a 2'x2'x2' rock down the couloir where I was 75 yards below. I traversed the class 4 ledge and dodged the pieces that were traveling about 100mph+, missed me by 5'. 3 seconds of total fear. 3. 2015 almost went down at the Anacapa Arch in the Channel Islands on a 35' boat. Bad weather, report was wrong, rolled to 40 degrees and lost a motor and could not steer. Go bag, wetsuits and kayaks were out and ready to bail. It was just as bad that night, anchor pulled on the night shift. It was terrible. 1.5 days of chaos. Last edited by 2-Stix; 06-21-2016 at 09:15 PM. |

You can't request a sticky on your own thread...that's like looking at yourself in the mirror and tossing two thumbs up...
