The Weather Started Getting Rough

6am launch. Medium size waves. I was gonna get wet. I did... Swells were relentless. Bait easy. Current ripping around the corner. Lots of PBs further out but said "nope not heading out there" too rough...fly lined in 70-85 ft water por nadda. Decided to head in to about 60 ft water. Kelp laying low but had to scoot to keep mac from going into kelp. 9am wham! Let her run for a count of 10. Ok maybe a 7. Fish on. She headed for the kelp and into the forest she went. No problem. With 40 lb floro leader on spectra... Go for it YT. Pop pop pop she came up pretty easy. Now heading back was not easy. Current still ripping and swells a swelling...took forever to get to beach. Waves were smaller at 10am-ish. All in all it was hard work but well worth it. Don't have a scale but I'm thinking 30 ish...

Nice fish. How did you offload and load your kayak and gear. How far away did you park? Thanks for any info you can provide.

I offload by restrooms. Schlepp everything down the steps and depending on surf you can launch straight out or head over to the usual launch area where I find it a little easier. I park in lot by lifeguard station. It works out fine. Can't wait for the main launch to reopen 👍
