aerator v's bilge pump?

Wondering does anybody use or have used just aerators in a bait tank instead of bilge pumps? And is an aerator as successful as a bilge pump at keeping the bait alive?

When I was new I went that route. Not a good option. Do it right the first time and make or buy a real bait tank.

For bait, use a pump. Aerators work great to keep bass alive in a livewell, but suck for keeping bait alive.

you need fresh water circulation to maintain temperature and deal with ammonia and other waste buildup. Aerators don't do that

You can get away with it if you exchange the water every 40 minutes or so, but agree with previous posts: circulating water exchange is the best.

Awesome! Thanks. Yes I'll do it up right! I actually just got the stealth-14 with the pump kit in it and my friend was thinking about just doing the aerator. Thanks!
