LJ 10/8
Launched solo into ankle slappers just a little before 1st light and headed to the pier to find it void of bait. Could not find any up that way, so headed SW. Finally with only 2 greenbacks I decided to go fishing and worry about more bait if and when I needed. Lots of floating kelp and grass, headed out to 200 feet to avoid the floating stuff and the lobster pots. Around the 3/4 decided to head in a little shallower. Water was 71-72.4 degrees and pretty clean (use flouro)140 feet got tagged on the greenback and stuck a teen yt for dinner. Second bait out was picked up by a good sized bonito. Dropped the sabiki on clouds and dropped the jig on marks on the slow ride in. Humpback whale did a full breach out over the canyon really close to a kayaker. On my way, right in front of me, humpback came up fully out of the water in 80 feet. Pulled out the camera and waited, he surfaced a few times but no more breach. Headed in to easy waves and just a few rentals and tourists on the beach. 3 Go Pros......might as well use em

I called my wife from on the water to see if she wanted yellowtail for dinner and she said she'd come up with some sides.
My daughter has to take credit for the pumpkin ravioli and pine nuts in sage butter..........they were just OK, but my wife had these romano artichokes ready to throw on the grill with the fish. She said 3 minutes on each side.........so good

But seriously, fishing is too active and exciting to relax with a cigar. When I kayak fish and smoke a cigar at the same time I tend to over-smoke, burn my throat and not appreciate the time necessary to enjoy a fine hand-rolled cigar.
