I've not noticed it make any difference for me. Green, red, sparkles, feathers, whatever, they all bring up bait. I just buy what's cheapest with bigger hooks and heavy leader.

Have not noticed a differnce, but have heard that the red sabiki bead is better for catching herring on the east coast.
