Lithium Ion is much lighter than lead acid, they can be wired in series to give you the voltage you need and in parallel to give you the amps. The only problem is you need a dedicated charger to charge them

This is what you want. 3, consecutive 10 hour days with HDS 5 max brightness. |

All very good info, I appreciate the help. I got a 9 amp hour today on the way home from work. Its the same size as my 7.5 but a bit heavier. I will look into the lithium ion as well. I'm glad I'm not gonna have to put solar panels or a windmill on the yak.

Have same unit and just ran a time test last night on the new battery (lead 12 volt, 9amp) Lasted from 10:00pm till 1:00pm the next day.. I'm sure it won't last as long on the water if I keep playing around but that gives me a good sense of how long it should last which is way more than expected.
Screen was set at 4 as don't need it that bright anyhow.. $25 bucks and can stores nicely in back of kayak in the useless hatch.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
