7/1 No Tuna Consolation

5 of us ventured out 8 miles yesterday in search of BFT or YFT. After making bait we headed out passing a guy gaffing a 6am YT, we did not even put a bait in the water until we were 6 miles out. We found some small paddies and had some porpoise roll through. Some fin back whales feeding, no love, fun effort and perfect conditions with light winds and cloud cover most of the time. I figured the YT would be waiting for us on the way in and luckily I was right Cool dolphin stampede in the middle of this BENDO. I was surprised this was only a 12 pounder, had some extra fight in it (or I was really fricken tired) right up to the gaff.

.......well actually we were not a day early we just over shot them by 5 miles, when we landed a reliable source had them jumping yesterday around 10 am and one was caught and landed from one of the ol school guys............such a crazy by catch. That one was supposed to be a YFT, the one I saw from today looked like a BFT......I am going back to targeting opah only.
