Long Road Trip for Redfish?
There are some reasonable places I have seen on the internet in Louisiana with houses right on the water, mother trips, etc. I would be up for a long road trip taking our own kayaks but it may not be cost efficient with gas and hotel costs and that long a drive but if we had enough interested maybe it would work. Anyone that has fished for redfish in a kayak or otherwise in Texas or LA and I don't mean Los Angeles give us some details. I think catching redfish in the marshes would be a blast. |

This seems like a fairly reasonable place in the New Orleans area.

I had the opportunity years ago to fish redfish near Galveston, I could do that every day!

I told my dad, when I go visit him in Florida, redfish/snook is on the inshore fishing to do list! His main species he targets is snook though.

My buddy is slaying them in Pensacola of piers and beaches, all too big to keep.

kayaks, ya skinny waters on plastics. No bull reds, super fun!

That would be fun but a long drive. Might be better to fly in and hire a guide, skiff or kayak. Coming in to an area for the first time and targeting new species might require a learning curve that could take your whole fishing time. Reds n snook are world class sports fish and DIY feels good. Mike

checkout http://www.pensacolafishingforum.com/f13/
for info on the Pensacola area. fun to pull on red fish at night around the bridges. I've got some in the surf, surf fishing during the day in the Destin area. should be easy to find guides in those areas.

If you want to fish the best Drum bite in the world you need to come to Hatteras, NC in November!! You are already making a long trip. Might as well head where the 50 inchers are stacked up and waiting for you.

I drove to Louisiana last year... totally worth the drive... came home with a few hundred lbs of filets.
