I do. Drags and bearings can be found at the local tackle shops, at least for the more common and latest model reels. For other parts I order from the manufacturer. Older discontinued reels that parts are no longer made for or kept in stock gotta hit up the aftermarket, specialty shops, or Ebay.
Hit up Alantani.com there are a bunch of parts sources listed for just about every common reel we typically use.

Can I send you a list of the reels I have for a quote? I know that it can change depending on the condition inside but just so i can get an idea for typical maintenance and upgrades if available.

I have broken down a rebuilt a few reels. You should check out the Alan Tani site, ton's of great photo breakdowns. Unless you have some super trick shimano reel, try it yourself first. If you get hung up.....ask on here and we'll be sure to help.
Just order up replacement bearings or pick them up and spend an evening tearing them down and rebuilding them. Pick up a couple ounces of marine grease as well as some brake cleaner and you should be set. |

I'd recommend you learn to do it yourself. Squidco has most of the parts you will need.
I've done all my reels myself since day one. It's pretty easy to do if you follow Alan's directions. Just make sure that if you service your friends Avets that you put the pawls back in the right way. D'oh!! |

Definitely try it out first. You owe it to yourself to learn reel maintenance 101. If all you end up with is a bag of parts then shoot me a list of what you got.
For me reel service intervals vary. Full tear down at least once a year. If one gets dunked or starts feeling sluggish/gritty/clunky then it gets serviced asap. I do rinse and shake dry after every trip as well as add a drop of oil to the spool bearings. This preventative measure goes a long way at least for me.

Tighten drags to about half way. Pull out line and if you feel a pressure, then less pressure. Then pressure then less pressure. It's time for drag washers. Reel maintenance is something I think that we should all know. Sort of like changing oil on your vehicles. Intricacy can vary, but like others said, Alan tani it up man!

I used to do all my own reels and very frequently. I no longer have the time and always take them in to a shop to be serviced.
