DP 8/17
Water really cooled off this week, down to 67 from 72 last weekend. It's still 70 in the harbor though. Wind picked up in the afternoon and it was a bit choppy too. Still bait around, just harder to find. Last weekend the bait was so thick in areas my fishfinder thought the water was only 5' deep.
Fast 1.5mph drift from red buoy at headlands towards the harbor with a big mac in tow along the 80' contour for nothing. Decided to jig a waxwing in 70' at the pipe because I was too lazy to retie, and had the pleasure of releasing a 21" Lingcod. I met a guy out there that caught a few legal Calicos on plastics, but I didn't try for any. I'll be back at it again next week!

Yeah, Newport last Mon. was down to 66º. Glad you didn't get skunked. Landwhale and I are hitting the Pipe tomorrow. I hope the calicoes are around.
