Ghosts that go bump in the dark
Took some video a week and a half ago and thought that it was no good cause of darkness. It was in 85' with overcast skies, but that is not usually a big problem. The mid column water was like soup though, with some kind of algae bloom? So I started messing around with the brightness and contrast to see if there was anything worth a damn in the couple hours of video I shot on the first day. The first clip is the actual video without editing. The second clip is with the brightness turned up and the contrast lowered a bit (almost got 1 to go on the fresh dead). Went back to the same area the next day and had a bit more light (clip 3). But it still needed a little tweaking (clip 4). The really sweet thing is that this was not SD or the OC, but LA. Going out at night this weekend to look for needles.

How do I find needles in a hay stack?
burn the hay and you end up with the needle.

Too bad they didn't take the bait, or are you saving that video for later?
Once again it is amazing to see what is going on below the surface. If you see a kayaker sticking his head in the water every 100 yards or so - that will be me. |

Greg, your videos are always a very large cut above the rest. Is there a specific video editing software you would recommend over others? Playing with the contrast seems to really bring out the whole presentation.

I wish i had put more effort into the editing. I am using Premier Elements 10. It is pretty good, and easy for a beginner, like me, to use out of the box. When I see something that i like on someone elses videos, i figure out how to do it with my software.

Except that you will be fined by CARB for an unlicensed burn.
