RockFishin'

Finally got a chance to get out and find some Rockfish. Between the storms and the Fred Hall Show I was kept off the water until yesterday.
I badly needed my Aqua-Therapy...2 fish each drop and I was done pretty quickly so I decided to hit one of the local wrecks for a big kicker fish to top off the limit.
I had a great hookup but it took me into the structure and I slacked the line and changed directions a few times until I got the beast to swim out.
I thought I had a big Ling as it was really heavy and fought all the way to the surface...
It was about 4 feet long and Pissed-Off, with teeth snapping.
My diver friend called it a Wolf Eel.
Fun day with some great eats...cooked the Rockfish with Macadamia nuts and Panko and a Mango-Avacado salsa...YUM!

Great shots you got of the eel. Did you manage to get the hooks out?

I've heard wolf eels are good eating. Can anyone attest to that?

I've heard the same thing, but am not sure I'd be cool with bringing 4 feet of ugly-toothed, snapping jaws onto my yak with me.

I think I dated that eel's sister at some point

Nice pics and a well-earned day on the water

That looks like something that crawled out of Sigourney Weaver's stomach in Aliens. Beautiful pics

Reminds me of the Eel that popped out of a sea-wreck in the 1977 movie "The Deep"... Still scares the excrement out of me!
