Tidelands, 2-24-14

Launched with Landwhale around 7am to a cold offshore wind and lots of clouds. Water was slightly dirty and 62.7º. We headed out to a shoal that Steve likes and worked it for a while for nada. I moved to deeper water and eventually got one legal spottie. Made it back to the bridge and off the supports I found 2 more legal spotties. Not wanting to incur the wrath of the Navy (lots of gray boats zipping around), I moved on. At this point I met up with Steve who had only one fish. We tried deep for a while, for nothing. Around 10am we moved in towards and boats. I stayed in the boats and Steve went south of them. Steve got 7 more, I got nada. At 11:30 we called it a day.

I fished most every color I had, but all my fish and bites were a 4" Flurry in Minnow Magic. Tried 3" Flurries too, but no love. Tried the Blade for zero love, not even a short strike.

Oh yeah, as cold as the launch was, within 1/2hr I was stripped down to my shirt. Wind shifted out of the south about 9am and blew pretty good. At around 10:30 it shifted to come out of the northwest.

I pulled a few in today. About 8. Only one was legal though. The rest were in the 10" range. Took a while to find a good color that they liked. But yeah the water was pretty murky. Flashers help. There are tons of lizard fish...too many. I probably pulled in 2-3 dozen.

Funny, I ordered some New Penny Zman Paddlerz this morning. Never tried the Zman products, should be fun trying them.

I had zero luck with any of the Z Man Plastics in Bahia Asuncion, Mexico. They wanted the megabaits.

I think the Z Man's will work fine in the bay though.

Try those Owner sled head jigs weedless they work very well.
