LJ 5/9 & 5/11 nothing like...
Gill raked fingers... Sorry, but the computer is F'd. It's hard working in Safe Mode.. 5/11.. Launched at 0500. Simi hightide, light onshore.. Water vis 5-10ft (green/brown), and water temp 61. Lots of broken kelp, eel grass and poo. Mixed up 2fters, which almost dug in my left side... Almost out of the yak. Made it out to 25ft and paddled to the pier where Vito and John were making bait. We stayed west of the pier and loaded up on greenies, just as Nelz comes through. Lot's of birds crashing this morning at the kelp, and Blacks. Trolled outside the bouys to the grounds.. Just outside of the kelp my clicker starts screaming. I take it out of the holder and turned of the clicker.. Then, it lets go. By the bite marks looked like a white.. Landed at 0900, lowtide 1-2fters. LJ 5/9 Launched at 0500, ankle slappers, no wind, water 62, water vis 10ft. Made bait at the pier, and was on my way to the kelp 20 minutes later. Got to see a nice little porpoise show.. I had a flyline and a weighted mac in the water. In 90ft of water, my flyline gets tagged, and then nothing. I thought it was a thresher, because of initial hit. It didn't feel like anything on the other end of my line, so I reel in the slack and put pressure. Sure enough, I'm on... This fish starts towing me to the canyon, then left/right/out. John paddling behind trying to catch me.. Definately not a yella. I'm still thinking shark. I get it to color, then it takes another run. I see silver, but the water clarity is bad.. Little shark. Finally after one more run, I get leader and see it clearly.. A white. It bellies up and I stick the gaff into it. I pull it aboard, and it almost tips me. 47.3 on the digi (46.2 @ the shop), 51" tape. John comes over, and we BS for a little. My FF sounds, and he starts getting towed. His fish does the same thing and tows him toward the canyon. After a quick fight it's on his lap. 37# model. Thanks for the pics, John.
