LJ 5-8
Trolled my way across the canyon and outside to the kelp. Bait was busting everywhere. Birds were crashing the surface but never in a big group. Casted my surface iron into a boil and hooked a bigger model cuda before donating it to the tax man. It looks very fishy out there, I may head back out this afternoon for a PM sesh.

I saw the dog eating your fish, didn't recognize you on the dark green WS yak. Lots of bait around but the right kind wouldn't bite for me. Couldn't even get a calico on my way back in.

Thanks for the report! I am headed out this afternoon, hopefully the tourists aren't in full force.. just love when the parents let their kids build sand castles at the launch ramp....

Dave
I had a knothead do the same to my bait last week. I saw him dive on my bait via the ff. He never made the clicker chirp, but when I reeled in my bait, in came the head just like in your pic. It was kind of wierd seeing the mac head still pumping it's gills without the rest of the body. Mark |

At least you had some action...
Dave, thanks for the bait, unfortunately, since you dropped Adi's greenie, you set the tone for my luck today. Nothing even bit. I saw several WSB cruising (6 in all), so I know they're out there. I just need to get them to bite me. |

That greenback would have had special karma, caught in a double secret spot, soaked in Adi's tank, then cured for 4 hours in mine, then it took both of us to get it out of the tank. I found a banana peel in the back of my truck when I got back in, good thing, I thought my lucky hat had lost it's mojo. I wonder who I owe a Chiquita in the tailpipe to? lol

I may not be catching much lately... just part of the strategy - work on paddling till 19th, then.... ...but I sure eat well. Wavster, what did you have for dinner? The Jewel: http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwegallery/data/516/2.MOV

I probably misunderstood - I'm good at that.
I thought the tone was set because the greenie was Adi's, not because it was handed over... I'm hyper sensitive when I'm not catching squat... From all the raw material on that picture, I provided coke and potatoes from Vons... lol

I saw Wavster on my way in and passed him several jumbo spanish macks, and I had one of the greenbacks Adi gave me at the beginning of the morning still in the tank. It was funny becuase I got all the spanish out easily but that greenback was still lively after 4 hours and was hiding in the back of my kayatank or moving quickly, it took both of us to get him out, then I lost him trying to transfer to Wavster's tank. We laughed and said that would have been the karma bait that would have caught the big one. BTW, I had spagetti for dinner, tasted like skunk. Too bad I don't have a taste for mackerel.

Adi,
No biggie. Just wanted to be sure I didn't say the wrong thing. You've definitely caught more than I. Didn't know you were so touchy, though... I'll be sure to not out fish you on the 19th. |

Evening session last night was plugged with bait. Smelt and brownies all over, had one encounter with a out deep away from all the surface bait, but it didn't stick.

I hit a thick patch of greenies last night and still wasn't able to pull anything other than macks and calicoes out of it. You know how people get lethargic when it's hot out? Well, I think the fish are on the front porch in their rocking chairs, sipping iced tea, and not real interested in what we put in front of them. Jerks.
