Kayak school
New to the forum. I'm looking for a kayak fishing school in the Los Angeles area. If need be I'll go to other counties or San Diego. I have a kayak but want to learn the finer points of entering the surf, paddling and safety. What do you recommend? Thanks in advance for the info. Happy fishing. Bill |

Call OEX, R.E.I. or most any kayak shop. They usually have classes on a regular basis, or can arrange a personal class.

Welcome to the board and like they said R.E.I has classes all the time. Since you do not have a city listed it makes it a little harder to point you in the right direction. If you are close to Marina Del Rey go to mothers beach it is a protected area no waves and practice getting in and out of your yak also it is a nice area to paddle around.
We help with a kids kayak program during the summer and the last class of the summer we paddle from Mother Beach out to the ocean and do a beach landing then surf launch and paddle back. Ray |

Call OEX first and ask. They are in the know.
I think that Jim Sammons did some classes along with guiding. Sea samurai or josh Pruitt will take you out in San Diego and school you on fishing. Kayaking is not rocket science....use your melon and you can figure this stuff out on your own. |

Save your money for some new equipment. This is class and your homework is to start reading everything on here and watching Youtube videos.
Nothing to worry about if you have half a brain. We are here to help. Mike |

Time on the water.
If you asked me two years ago if I would be surf launching in the dark (this AM) to out Kayak fishing, I might think you were crazy. Turns out I'm the crazy one, leaving to surf launch in a few minutes .... |
