Zuniga 3/3 & first season hooping recap

Got out on the water early to make sure we got a place at the normally popular spot. Had the bay to ourselves on a gorgeous evening. Came up blank on first two rounds of pulls so we went deeper on the resets and pulled up lots of crabs (great night if we went out hooping for crabs) and a couple shorts. Seems like things have slowed considerably. Im wondering if it even makes sense to go out again this season. Thoughts?

All said, this was my first season hooping and it was a smashing success. My buddy and I got out over a dozen times and brought home multiple bugs all but 3 or 4 trips (all skunks in the last 6 trips or so). We followed all kinds of advices, tips and rumours and had fun every time out (even the nights that seemed like the seals were out to settle some personal vendetta).

Thanks to all on this site who offered help. Looking forward to the off season to get more hoops, re-rig existing gear and strategize for opening week in the Fall.

Anyone new to the game who would like some help to lessen the learning curve/save some time & money - be sure to ask, I am happy to share info.

How long does it take you to get to the jetty from shelter island ramp?

Congrats on a successful first season. I am also noticing a slow crawl over the past few weeks. Getting more crabs than bugs, but hey I love crab cakes.

But it doesn't matter how slow the crawl I have to go out at least one more time, being sure to avoid the last night of the season.
