Some Decent Sharks Pics from La Jolla

This big fella had a lot of people scrambling to get out of the way. I got some up close and personal shots.

-Cue the theme from Jaws.

Grab that Jigstick

Drive By with friend out on the pulpit.

Here it comes.

Damn that's a big beautiful creature. I guess its time to give Owyn a call.

It was very curious, and came close up along side the boat and under it.

At one point I was worried it would bump the motor. It was about 5 ft wide across the head.

Big sucker!!!

I had adult humback do that to me offshore. It's cool but it can't help but make you nervous.

It appears to have a tag on the top of the dorsal fin, on its right side. Notice the white dart against the black fin.

Yes. There was a 2nd shark that Tony saw on the 18 Parker. He said it was bigger than the one I posted in the pics.

It went under his boat and stayed there making him nervous. He said it was as wide as the beam on his boat.

Owyn is going to attempt to pace a tag on one today.

That is awesome Billy, sure would give you a pucker at first sighting from a distance and not knowing what it is.

I did transects ALL morning today in La Jolla... we didn't see any sharks, or ANY yellowtail unfortunately.... next time!

I have been getting calls from Dana Point to Imperial Beach about shark sightings. They seem to have sh0own up in full force! Keep your eyes and ears open and be safe! they don't have sharp teeth, but they are BIG and powerful....

If any of you guys see a basking shark please call me to report it! I need you're help finding them so we can collect DNA and affix a sattelite tag onto them to track their movements.

Great shots Billy!

thanks,
Owyn
