Cabrillo 4-20

Hoping to keep a nice streak going, I launched at Cabrillo again yesterday. The predicted conditions looked good, although I got a bit of a late start getting on the water around 7. This is my iPhone prep routine...not that it mattered, I was going fishing regardless!

Fogged rolled in almost immediately after loading up with bait. That's Angel's Gate in the distance.

I pulled in a few shorts in my target area, no pics, just a shake of the hook with some pliers, and gone to grow up some more. The deeper channel didn't seem like a good idea in this visibility, so I made a move closer to the launch. The wind picked up from the west dragging beach sand out into the harbor and turning the water light green with foam trails similar to when they're adding dirt to the shallow habitat area.

By the time I reached the marina area the wind was howling good and 4 military choppers circled for about the last hour.

Called it a day around 12:30 and loaded and gone by 1 for a trip to the Busy Bee for my consolation prize.

Streak over.

I grew up in San Pedro. Moved to San Diego 15 years ago and haven't had a busy bee sandwich since. Best sandwich in the world by far. I wish I could find something close in SD. Any suggestions?

I only call it a skunk with 0 fish...not 0 legals, guess I need to raise the bar.

Pedro's one shinning light is definitely Busy Bee. I recommend the Roast Pork. Fantastic every time. When I really want to piss the wife off I'll get the Roast Pork and Italian Sausage Belly Buster or the Double Pastrami.
I think it may be a Busy Bee day tomorrow.

I've lived in Pedro for 20 years now. Seen the good and the bad, but no real disrespect intended . But in all honesty, if i ever leave, the one thing I will always remember are the Busy Bee Sandwiches. Oh and that guy playing the trumpet down Pacific every damn day.

Good to hear the Pirates are still doing good. I went to many Pedro High games when I was there in the 90s. I had no idea how the team is nowadays

Here is a quick list of 20 spots to eat in San Pedro
and it isn't even a dent. not many towns have the number excellent spots to grub that Pedro does.
If you really want to try Pedro food out you need to make it to the annual "Taste of San Pedro" event

Enjoy:
  • Busy Bee
  • The Pacific Dinner
  • The Light House Café
  • Buono’s Pizza
  • The Enchilada House
  • Big Nicks Pizza
  • BeachCity Grill
  • Bonello's New York Pizza
  • Burrito Factory
  • Maui Chicken
  • Nam's Red Door Vietnamese Restaurant
  • Niko's Pizzeria
  • Omelette & Waffel Shop
  • San Pedro Brewing Company
  • Slavko's Harbor Poultry
  • Sorrento's Fine Italian Foods
  • Stuft Pizza
  • Taxco Mexican Restaurant
  • 710 Grille
  • Baja Fish Market

Now leave our halibut fishery alone!
