NPH Rockfish Killing Spree. 4/20/2012.

Last night we decided to make a last minute decision to go out and fish NPH.

Hit up vincentek9 to see how the conditions were looking for the day, and it was a GO from there.

Geared & prepped up last night and woke up at 5am.

Met up with vincentek9 a little after 6am, and started paddling by 6:30am.

On the paddle out, the mouth of the harbor was filled with baitfish, as always.

Conditions were looking promising, got to the fishing grounds within 20-30 mins. This is the deepest ive ever fished on a kayak.

Fish started popping up left and right on every drop with the double dropper loop rig w/ squid strips.

Then I brought out the Lucanus Jig and the fish were getting bigger.

Double hook up on the Lucanus haha

My little bro hookin up as well, sadly he catches nothing but dinks!

vincentek9 searchin for fish.

I find a new spot, drop down the Lucanus and BAM!
My rod gets heavy and I feel a head shake or two and knew it was a better fish.

Vince had already filleted all of his catch.

I end up with some nice rockies, and my bro with dinkys

And that is that!

i was always 30ft+ away from arvil and his bro so i couldnt snap any pics of them or have them snap pics of me, but here is my contribution. kept 5 starries and 2 vermillions. released 20+ rockfish. 2 baby casualties were left floating for bird food.

Thanks for the report! I'd love to join you guys next time ( I can't go tomorrow because I'm doing a favor for a friend) since we probably live really close to each other (I live in La Palma).

Tie them knots good! Those puppies are 25$ apiece. Madakos look to be just as good for about half that. This guy always has then on craigslist for 13

Yeah tell me about it, all these new Shimano lures are pricy, but sure bring up the fish.
