Those new Seeker Pinheads are very affordable. I picked one up for YT @ FHS for $115.

I found a shimano taramar on ebay for 45 bucks no shipping. For that price I'll get it just because. Id love a new calstar but its just not in the budget. Ill throw the cash towards a black pearl trip before setting my sights on a new $300 rod. But im still interested in something in the 100 range that would be suitable for yoyo jigging.

You do not have to spend $300 for a Calstar. Check out the Calstar Black West Coast Southern California series. The Longfin, located in Orange, sells them for $149.

I use a California Rod from Turners, works good with my Saltist and they always go on sale.

John will hook you up. I'd stick with a 7', maybe a 670 or a 700M. That type of rod has plenty of backbone for the heavy jigs but can also be used for live bait.
