Bait Scales

How do you keep them from sticking to your rod/reel.

I use Line & Lure line conditioner on my rods and reels. I use it on my fishfinder screen too
Great alternative to petroleum-based stuff. One spray bottle usually lasts a whole year.
The old man at Hogan's Tackle, Dana Point showed me that trick.

Armorall. Yes, Armorall. After you have freshly rinsed and dried your gear, spray some on a soft cloth and wipe down. It usually lasts me about 3 - 4 trips. I learned this tip from a SD Captain and it has worked for me for decades.

Dude isn't that a badge of honor proving that you were in the mix with bait on hook trying to catch fish?

embrace the scales.

Some car wax on the rod will make the scales not stick or at least make it easier to remove them. If you can don't let your gear stand too long befor you rinse it. If the scales dry on the rod they are a PITA to get off. Mike

or, use the countless hrs you spend everyday lurking on here to simply wipe off the offending scales?

and since it doesn't look like you've hooked into any 30lb hali's this month (or other exotics for that matter), we're all glad to see that your 2million posts in 2years goal is still alive and well.

The cork where I have the biggest issue. Its no big deal, was just wondering if there was a simple trick to keeping them off the cork. I'll have to try the WD40 and Armor All trick......I'm sure both are safe on cork.

Works like a charm....

Just massage a little in and, presto! Scales slip right off
