Black Pearl 2012 Schedule

Quote:
Black Pearl Trips Canceled!

Sorry for such short notice on those planning for this coming weekend, but the Black Pearl is now all the way up in Morro Bay. Bummed that we are cut short on what could could have been epic Fall island fishing. I will be refunding all deposits/full payments to everyone who is signed for Aug, Sept, Oct and Nov.

Originally we were only up in the air for the trips in Oct and Nov as the Long Beach Sportfishing Landing is being forced to close.

Rick was offered space up in Morro Bay and decided not to wait for the boot.

Bummed, but understand, you do what you have to to stay afloat. Tough times to own a sport boat!
Andy
between 9am-6pm

562-592-0800

Next trip is fishing May 12th,13th and has plenty of spots open!
562-592-0800 for reservations.

An opportunity to go kayak fishing at San Nicolas, Santa Barbara, San Clemente and Santa Catalina. This will be based on what is biting where, as well as weather conditions. Ideally fishing at 2 different islands. These trips will run once a month. Target species will be halibut, white seabass, yellowtail, ling cod, rockfish, sheephead, whitefish, and calico bass.

The Black Pearl is a 65 foot sportfisher that is based out of Long Beach Sportfishing. I have chartered a kayak trip with the captain, Rick Craddick, before and was left with nothing but good things to say and found the same from everyone else aboard. On the water a zodiac will make the rounds to bring us bait, drinks, take your catch and get it on ice. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the galley and are included in the cost. We made squid and very likely will have the opportunity to do the same on these trips, the first and second night out. Trips are limited to 12 persons and I will have a waiting list if needed. Trip cost is $395. You can call in with a credit card or bring cash or a check by OEX Sunset Beach. $50 deposit will hold your spot. Remaining payment at departure time will need to be cash or a check. Credit cards can be used up to 6pm closing time, Friday, the day of departure. 562-592-0800

All scheduled trips depart Friday Evening at 9 PM, fish Saturday and Sunday returning late Sunday evening.

Trip Schedule (fishing days listed)

April 21,22 one spot just opened up
May12,13 canceled
June 9,10
July 21,22 ...........2 SPOTS opened up!
August 18,19 2 spots left
September 15,16

Man, I'm scheduled to work every month on those dates except April 21,22 (work every other weekend)........what are the targeted species in April (WSB, halibut, Calicos, YT)? I think I'm in for April......if the dates were on different weekends of the other months (weekend before or weekend after the listed dates) I could sign up for more

I want to do the September trip but its already an expensive summer for me and it hasn't even started. 3 day music festival in April, 2.5 day Islander trip in June, 2 day kayak Catalina camping trip in July, 2 day kayak camping trip in the Sierra's in Aug..........Either I need a second job or need to buy my wife another nice 'just because' gift.

I'm new to kayak fishing, but not new to fishing our local islands. I believe the Black Pearl used to be the Seahawk LXV with the other captain Rick? If so, I've logged lots of time onboard. How is the mothership experience? Is it easy to get the yaks on and off?

I love the idea of having a zodiac deliver bait and beers! Big Reds and Lings at Nich would be fun while waiting for YT/WSB love. The restricted fishing area and depth restrictions have always made SBI so hit or miss for me. Is it much better from a kayak? Either way, I'm very interested!

April trip is now half full, July is 1/2 full. Every month has at least a few sign ups. Really hope they all run! I plan to fish for BIG halibut in April and big shallow yoyo lings and reds! Hopefully we get to Nic on the first trip!

I'm fired up to be going on the April trip! I've been fishing my entire life but but not on the ocean and not on a floating piece of plastic. The wife isn't happy that I'm spending a little too much cash on salt water fishing equipment, but she not being too hard on me. Will I jinx myself by insisting we get a freezer for the garage?
