which one? the northern reefs are far. not impossible but pretty far for rockfish that aren't in season and alot of short calico's. the lobster boueys mark the piles and most of the bass are suspended about 20ft down the last time i was there.
this is the view from one of the closer piles

just headed north west out of the harbor. go straight to the red bouey then head north west and there are usually boats out there. you'll come across some lobster pots about 1/4 mile from the big red bouey and you'll be about 1/3 of the way there. its about an hours paddle with a small headwind and only took me 20mins to get back.
here's another zoomed in pic so you can kinda tell the land scape from where i was at.

Hey Echo,
If you launch just north of the pier in the Harbor ,get there at about 7 or 8 am on the weekends ,most likely someone will be launching also .and just ask to hang out .I have linked up with plenty of people like this.Good luck . If i wasn't in between yaks i would go with .Th AR's can put some nice Sand Bass on the line. good luck bud. Steve |
