New Lowrance Elite 4 series FF/GPS

http://www.lowrance.com/Products/Marine/Elite-Series/

I am leaning toward the DSI model.I know that an HDS 5 is way better but these seem like a good bang for the buck.I used to have a X67C but it got stolen(may you never catch anything but sculpin that land in your crotch!)These are about 3 times the output power of that original unit that would not read bottom going over parts of the canyon.

Anyone have a DSI type FF?

unfortunately, it is only a mount, so the xducer will stick way out the bottom.

It would stick out of my scupper much less than that hobie,I have a BG with the Transducer spot on the scupper. The DSI transducer looked very flat.

So does anyone have any experience with DSI type sonar units?

I dont have a DSI unitl but fish with a couple guys that do have them, and have played with the settings multiple times while fishing LJ.
As far as I can tell they are made for fishing in fresh water where there is not much swell and the water is much shallower....it doesn't work well in water deeper than 90-100' with all the thermo-cline and bait fish interference. Even in the shallower water the picture is nothing like the web/demos show, although the guys that have them say they work great at the lakes without all the chop.swell.

The lowrance site says the DSI's are only good up to 200' max so unless you do mostly lake stuff I would stay away from DSI.

Mounts are $59.95, they do stick out further than I would like, but a cool option vs over the side or thru hull
