LJ 8/5 I got the feva... finally
I know, I know.... another LJ YT report... but I am stoked.... My first YT(s) ever ... I launched my yak from the shores around 4am, had a hard time making bait, finally found some and headed out to 80'-100' water W-NW of the condo... after a few zings and nada, I re-baited and let the mac go. All the sudden, my line starts ripping faster than a mac usually pulls away, so I let her take some more and then I load up on him... yeah, yeah I know they're rats but I had to keep em cuz they're my firsts.. Hooked up in the second one minutes later... almost dejavu compared with the first... Both went 8# on the digi scale.. Now for the homeguards! |

It's kinda funny how you fish and fish and fish, thinking your doing everything right... then you make a few adjustments, stumble upon a technique that consistently works and you realize how much time you were actually wasting... My biggest mistake was that I had my strike setting set too tight... I would get a bite and the fish would run. Since the tension was too tight, It would either break a knot, a weak spot, or pull the hook... I couldn't tell ya how many potential fish I may have lost... I guess that's why time on the water is the biggest tip you could give somebody... Thanks for all the replies. What a load off my back that is..
