Summertime, in the LBC...
Paddling for bling at Belmont shores
Clay has been spending some time with the O'side Outrigger Club for about a month now and they had their first meet up in LB. Teams were represented from Dana, LB, Newport, LA, and a couple others. Divisions were boys and girls each 12 and under, 14 and under, 19 and under, and the adults. The shores were packed, good people, raffle, awards, and food. Weather was great, and the surf was unforgiving... Most of the teams did not have all of their crew as this was the first meet, with another next weekend at Belmont, and the finale in Santa Barbara...yikes. The competition consisted of a sprint from the flags, with the top teams advancing to the round the flag shore launch/land race. Clay got put on a 12 and under team, they advanced, and ended up placing 2nd...nice way to start the day...bling! He then gets picked up by a 14 and under team that needed to fill the boat, off he goes, no rest...they even lent him a shirt to fully represent... Unfortunately, DENIED! They did not qualify. Off goes the shirt, they turn the canoe around to get ready for the next crew, and instantly he gets picked up by the next team racing... Back in the boat, Son... The boys ended up getting 2nd...this was the LB team. So what started as 2, maybe 3 races for the lad ended up in 6 with the back-to-back finale...and he still wanted to swim in the pond. Couldn't stay for the awards, so unsure of how many he actually got, do know that he got at least two, 2nd Place for the 12 and under, 2nd Place for the 14 and under... Needless to say, someone has some sore arms... Fun day, and we'll be doing it again next weekend fo' sure...

Manimal!!! You would think he had some practice at this paddling stuff or something. It is a good thing he did not need any gaffing expertise with you at the helm of the camera. WTG Clay.

Thanks for all the good responses fellas, that's what happens when ya paddle with the big boys and know how to paddle.
He takes it all in stride, but I've gotten some good comments, asking where he learned to paddle. Simple response...He is a yak fisherman...
