you guys kill me! Don't you see that I agree with most of you. Unfortunately most of you missed the point.
As I said, I saw lots of disrespect. If I had to choose from the kayakers I saw disrespecting boaters, the boaters I saw disrespecting kayakers, or the boaters I saw DISREPSECTING other BOATERS I would have to say that watching two boaters next to each other on anchor fight over a fish had to be the funniest thing I saw... Not trying to be bitter. You were actually more respectful than most other boaters Hypoxic. I was rather impressed by your quick and efficient killing. I understand that if you're new to this sport you may not realize the potential damage that can be done by timely reports. That is all.

"Loose lips sink ships" - There is alot of truth to this old saying.
It sure was quiet on the internet during this bite. Even Bloody Decks kept their mouths shut about it. -------------------------------- Patience, Perseverance and Restraint Please The power boaters have been dishing out plenty of disrespect toward kayakers, and I'm not interested in helping them. I hate seeing the boat blockade - followed closely by the commercial squid boats from Oceanside that steal our bait and shut down our bite. -------------------------------- -Congratulations on a nice haul of fish. I would have enjoyed your story even better if it was written 10 days from now.

Congrats and WTG! Enjoyed Reading your report- made me very hopeful for my upcoming first attempt @ YT & WSB. I'm a yakfisher here in SF, and while I love fishing for lingcod and halibut in the bay area, I dream of YT & WSB. I've been lurking on BWE for a year now, and now that I have a branch office in LA that I go to twice a month, I hope to bring my yak and gear down to try your hallowed waters in a few weeks.
Sorry to digress. Anyway, great report and thx for sharing. HamachiJohn |

Just fish on the outside of the cluster of boats. U just need to figure out where the fish are coming from(direction). Are they coming from the kelp to the canyon or are they coming from the canyon to the kelp . Once determined that will put you in position to catch one before they go thru the boats.Happy hunting...

They were coming from the kelp today (and unfortunately back into it after being hoked). Saw 2 hook-ups for the fleet, zero fish landed. Probably at least 25 boats & the same amount of yaks out there. Did meter some fish away from the crowd (YT on the outside, WSB toward the reserve line), but couldn't get 'em to chew.

Nice fish, congrats Chris!
Congrats to all who got on it. I suppose it's over now that we're all reading about it, no? It is circus out there these days, hard to fish with so manu people in such a small space. Be careful everyone, be considerate and respectful. The boaters drop anchors claiming their chunk of LJ. Yakkers drift through the maze. Each side pissed at another, everyone in some weird mood. Right to drift, versus right to sit. We can all do better. You've got to realize - "yak in a dark" is relatively new thing. Just as of last few years there are kayakers in numbers fishing in the dark. Hate to sound like an old man, but "in our time", we were paddling pretty hard to clear the 1/2 before it gets dark. Or at least I was. Very few kayak fishermen very braving the nightime sports. That's all fairly new... ...and pretty cool! Stay safe out there. Have good working lights, a good headlamp at least. You want to be seen.
