Here is a tip for lobster opener

Don't go on opening night. Its crazy out of Dana and Newport. If you go make sure your kayak is lit up like a Christmas Tree. If you are staying near the breakwater or in the harbor you are crazy. Too many amateur boaters that usually don't know what they are doing. I usually wait a week for the excitement to wear off. There are plenty of lobster.

update

the dredge is sitting off of mariners point in mission bay and pipe is being stacked on the south side.
not sure when dredging will start but as far as i know the channel and surrounding areas have not been disturb yet.

the closest parking to the jetty with overnight or late night parking is where the yellow X is across from belmont park on the bay side. short paddle to mariners point where i will try first (red dots) or into the jetty. bring your wheels you need them for a short haul to the water from the parking lot.

i'll be there around 11:15 and launch at 11:30ish

if you need direction let me know and who ever want to go lets hook up

im thinking at least two/three hours or like fishing until you know it's time to go in or bag limit . start at mariners point then if that doesnt pan out go across to mission point and around the corner and hit the main jetty, leap froging the nets until someone finds a crawl and cover that area.
im always open to suggestions.

the cool thing about mariners point is there's a bird sanctuary on the point so theres no fishing from shore, it also has good tidal flow and surrounded by eel grass beds.

my buddy from work will be joining me/us

dude, you guys are freakin crazy for tackling the MB jetty on the opener....cluster F@$& !!!!!!

I live in the area, love lobster and have plenty of nets but the only reason I would venture to that area on that day is to stand on the jetty and film the carnage....but as long as you and your yak survive I'm sure you'll have a good story.

and Mikey,

keep your grubby mitts outta my bug holes!!!!
