Exclamation Next MLPA MEETING August 3rd Public Comment!!

MEETING SCHEDULE
August 3, 9:30 a.m., Holiday Inn

August 4, 8:00 a.m., Hilton Garden Inn

MEETING LOCATION
Holiday Inn
850 Palomar Airport Road
Carlsbad, CA 92008
760-438-7880
www.carlsbadhi.com

Hilton Garden Inn
6450 Carlsbad Blvd.
Carlsbad, CA 92011
760-476-0800
Hilton Garden Inn, Carlsbad Beach

The agenda will be posted about 10 days before the meeting, it will tell when public comment will be taken on August 3rd. There will be no public comment on the second day. The most effective comments to this group are those about important areas/geographies to you (and why). In addition comments about overall number and size of MPA areas are good for this group.

Day 2 are workshops, you are welcome to attend and move from room to room as long as you do it politely and are not disruptive. You have to remain quiet in the rooms, no comments, hand signals, or heavy sighs are allowed. This does allow you to see the inner workings of how the maps are drawn and some of the discussions that occur. Be prepared to see/hear things you may not be comfortable with and still remain quiet and polite....

The sky will darken on Wednesday, the moon will hide the sun, so that they will know how unhappy the Fish Gods are with their proposals...

Before this meeting, we have a super-important BRTF meeting coming up with TWO (count 'em, two) public comment times. July 28 and 29 in Santa Monica.

Blue Ribbon Task Force meeting (the super-important guidance forming one)
July 28-29, 2009
July 28: 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
July 29: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
PUBLIC COMMENT TIME: At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 and at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2009.
Sheraton Delfina Santa Monica
530 Pico Blvd.
Santa Monica, CA 90405

This is the meeting where the SAT will go over their evaluations of round 2, the BRTF will hear about public input during the workshops, and the BRTF, most importantly, will formulate guidelines for the RSG to work off in creating Round 3 maps.

The last BRTF meeting for us. Couldn't be anymore important.

I have posted details here.

Let's ROLL CALL!

Agenda

It is less than 10 days before the meeting has the agenda been set? I have just started recently Kayak fishing and I am not up to speed at what happens at these meetings. Could some one explain the protocols? Do we speak? What is the amount of input you have as a audience member?

I very much enjoy fishing off the La Jolla shores. I have two boys that are hooked on fishing from kayaks. We have only been out 5 times and neither one of us has caught a monster but..... we have scored enough calico and lingcod to have a bunch of fish tacos!

If some one can give me some information I will try to miss work on the 3rd and make the morning part of the meeting. What is the agenda of BWE membership?

August 3rd, the agenda is out on the DFG web page. In short public comment is scheduled at 3:30 pm. You must have your card turned in no later than 15 minutes before comment starts. I would show up by no later than 2:45 pm as comment doesn't always go on as scheduled. Please be polite to everyone, especially the people on the other side.

When you speak, speak about what you care about most. What spot is most important to you? What are your alternative closures?

Here is the agenda:

This is a Do, or Die Meeting

The Enviro's who showed up today to rub Your Face in the gravel will no undoubtedly attend in Carlsbad to beat you down again.

-Its so much fun to do.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Lets show some respect for our RSG members and attend these Final Meetings where you can make a difference.

Don't let the Enviro's steal the fight in the final few seconds.

After yesterdays humiliation, I will be coming down on August 3rd to Carlsbad again for this meeting. I give you guys from SD a little slack for not coming up yesterday...but the LA guys were an embarassment in their attendance. Chase everyone off the water from LA/OC when they come down to fish....except me and a few others of course...I like catching your halibuts!
