A full sail looking rock in the middle of nowhere. It is the main and only panga destination other than for white croakers which are everywhere. Try not to reinvent the wheel. You are asking for the publics opinions but are determined to disregard it. The fishing will improve dramatically after Puertecitos.

Now that's the best advice yet!

Not at all. All suggestions are welcomed. I am asking for information and based on the information gathered by various means will decide what is best for me to do. Time wise and money wise. All tips and suggestions are appreciated. I do wish that I had posted here first for suggestions before making a non-refundable reservations in San Felipe. Alfonsina's would have been a better place to stay, but reservation system there is not very reliable. Lack of Spanish fluency was another obstacle. Oh well. The time spent in Calimax is about all the time you need to spend in San Felipe.

Where to stay in Mako-ville? Since I am staying with Rossman and there maybe two of us, I am not taking all the necessary items to camp at Mako-ville. Even if there was room in my 4Runner. Forfeiting $200.00 for two separate night’s stay because the fishing is not good for two half days, does not seem right. Hopefully we will have our share of good fishing in Asuncion. On the way back we will stop at Alfonsina’s for fishing before going to San Felipe to check-in. Last edited by Mahigeer; 09-09-2018 at 10:46 AM. |

Consag rock
Thanks for the correction. It helped finding it on the map. Not the Google Maps though! The Konsag Island--to Consag Rock--or Roca Consag in Spanish, is per Wikipidia: “(Consag Rock) is a granitic (or more precisely, dacitic) outcrop located in the northern Gulf of California about 22 miles[1][2] ENE of the town of San Felipe. The outcrop stands about 286 feet above the sea, and is named for the Jesuit missionary Ferdinand Konščak who was active in the early exploration and missionary work in Baja California. The ruins of an abandoned lighthouse can be seen on the west side of the outcrop.[3] The waters in the vicinity of the Roca Consag are a popular fishing area and also favored for spotting whales and porpoises.” It seems it is mostly small fish and perhaps not worth the possible $50.00/person or more cost of Panga rental. |

Sounds like such a fun trip/adventure Arkadash!!
I wish you safe travels and lots of fun. I'm sure your photo diary/report upon your return will be just as exciting for those of us landlocked for the time being. Cheers. -JJ- |

As long as there's no group there, i'm pretty sure all you need is cot to set up in the Mako-ville garage.

Sleep on the roof and you don't need a cot.

Don't bother paying a panga to take you out to that rock - it is a big sealion rookery. You won't catch anything there...

Thanks guys.
Fishing in San Felipe and hotel stay is out. Thanks for the tips. On the 4th, going south to visit Puertecitos, Mako-ville and have tacos in Alfonsina’s. The only side trips (stops) planned depending on what time it is: Coco’s Corner, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WiVWQ2zKfWI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbYvcLBFCJM Bahia Santa Rosaliita where, I was there in 2012 and met a couple. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WylvaJF_Xo Other is Tony’s Mariscos for some seafood cocktails before Guerrero Negro. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6ZDl8V0Ya4 On the way back on 11th, will be going to Alfonsina’s from BA and later to SF for overnight sleep.
