fastest yak?
What's the fastest "plastic" yak?
Yaks & peddle boats have come a long way... mirage, twin turbo etc... I know the old Cobra Expeditions were fast...but can anyone beat an old Tarpon t160i in a sprint AND/OR distance race?? Last edited by cabojohn; 03-18-2016 at 04:14 PM. |

Long thin yaks tend to be faster. Tarpon 16, OK prowler 15, cobra tourer, and the OK scuppet pro are fast paddling kayaks.
I'd guess the fastest yak in a sprint or a 20 miler would be a Hobie Adventure. You can get that yak up to speed quickly and it doesn't take much to keep it there. Tracks very strait so you don't end up snake waking all over. Mike |

I raced Bing once, he had a hobbie with turbo fins
had the jump on him at first, but he caught up and passed me Also couldn't catch AnacapaBobs father in law when coming back from Limekiln, he was in a tarpon I think. I'm in the 15' prowler |

Tarpon
That old Tarpon 16 hull was always the fastest fishing type kayak.

I was looking at the pro-fisha 525, and tried to order one from Brett at Stealth but he stopped responding to me. They sell them at a shop up in Lodi, but after I took a closer look at the kraken, it seemed like a better fit for our style fishing. It would be rad to have a surf-ski for when the tuna come in. But the baitwell situation isnt ideal... |
