I've been thinking this for years! I guess some of us are just unlucky.

Dammmmmm. Between work and the wheather I missed my chance. Now I really regret not having gone out on Tuesday. I was surprised not seeing anyone at the launch on the web cam this last Tuesday. Looks like the next window is Monday or Tuesday next week. I hope the bite is still on.

Launching with minimal gear is the way to do it. I've caught most of my yellows using the yoyo.

HDS 7 Gen 3. TM150M Transducer. No way I'd justify it for only the yak, but I use the same head unit on my skiff too. Might go back to keeping it simple for the kayak though. West marine is having a $350 HDS 5 sale next month.

I haven't had time to change any settings on the HDS 7, or even figure out how to work it yet. I even had it duct taped to my kayak for the maiden voyage. So far so good though. Wish I would have though about taking a pic of the one school Andy and I were able to hook up on. That was a crazy amount of fish down there. Here are a few screen grabs.

Pair of free swimming jacks that I was too slow to get the jig down to.

A decent school that I came across in shallower water. They were moving quick too. By the time I turned around to grab my rod for a drop they were gone.

Great screenshots!! Helps to figure out what we are seeing on the water.

Probably the question that stumps me the most and may seem dumb but here goes... How the heck do you tell which direction fish are swimming when you meter them? I have seen marks in the past as I'm trolling but never figured it out.

You get sidescan and downscan, or you do lots of quick circles if they are not visible at the surface. You can also fish in groups, and communicate.

Horizontal swimmers are harder to detect than vertical. If the marks are headed up (reading left to right on screen) the fish are swimming up. If they are headed down (reading left to right) they are swimming down. The far right of your screen is what's happening now. Amp scope can help.

Little, short and sweet video I don't think I have ever had a YT pop off the gaff before. It knew right where to go.

Wow Steveoo, great Fish Finder shots. The schools were
big and on the move.

Here's my least favorite shot of the day. The moment
I got broke off... Revenge will be mine.
My fisherman's belly is still hungry.
