I don't need the report, just give me the pictures. Fish porn makes my job better.

YES!! Seeing the pics of everyone's fish definately motivates me to get out there and get my own. Especially when I am stuck at work with nothing to do and I get to browse all these nice photos.

I haven't been able to get out but I've been reading this and Bloodydecks. A post on La Jolla from BD mentioned that there was 30 Kayaks out in La Jolla yesterday so I was surprised not to see anything on here.

People keeping the info close to their chest maybe?

I'm headed out next Tuesday and Wednesday for SURE!

I wish I could explain to you how much more amplified the stoke is when you go out and find your own fish rather than just hearing "Hey, the fish are biting" and you luck into one.

It took a year to get my first one, but I got it on a bite that was going strong for almost a month. It felt awesome, but it didn't feel "earned." Six months later we had fished for 2 weeks straight skunking out, no other kayaks in sight. We worked the grid, did our homework and ended up catching some nice big YT. Those fish felt so much more deserved because of the work we put into it. Those fish and that report never saw the internet.

Lately, the constant demand for fishing reports feels like we are all doing the same group school project but only some of the people are putting in the time to complete the assignment; while others are just expecting to get a good grade as the expense of others hard work.

For any "new guy" wanting a tip on inshore fishing? Find the "bait" and you will find the fish. Any fish one catches weather it be during a "bite" or not translates into experience. Obviously the more fish you catch the better fisherman you become, as each fish caught is a whole new learning experience. To me the "hunt" is also much more gratifying.....

I met this older guy yesterday at the launch in the dark. He had a stern look on his face all morning. He brought he son with him to go "fishing". Pretty much begged me for bait as he passed me the first time. This old guy proceeded to cut through a bunch of our lines a couple of times (without regard!). Needless to say, I saw him leave very early. I did not see any fish on his yak. I wonder if his boy had any fun...one man's perception of the morning. Jim

Technology kills fish current reports

As of now 1053 people have read this post and it has been copied over to Bloody decks if any fish pics and a few other websites...it is a bummer,,, but that is technology...Neil - I would love to help you work on your class project anytime...PM me....

Hey Jim, I saw that grumpy old bastard at the launch too. That guy does not belong on the water, he can't even swim!

I bet it will take him years to catch a real fish.

Definitely folks are keeping things quiet. That's ok. Drake's reference to a school group project that every one wants to get an A on with only a few doing the research. Great analogy. I fish when I can, not when the reports tell me too. Who doesn't wish they could go more often? I caught my first kayak YT on a cold windy drizzly day using a big smelt for bait. Just go.

I gotta say that the squid all along the coast has added a new dimension to our bites. Nothing seams to bring out the territorial asshole in anglers like a squid bite. If the YT were spread out along the kelp line and off the NW corner and parking lot eating macks and surface irons like they usually are in July I'm sure reports might be different. Mike

The funny thing is some that are the most anti report I've watched them from the start. Catch a couple photo worthy fish and things change.

That being said. I don't mind a "brag report" rather than a "fish report". The one's that have lived their lives on the ocean can read the signs.
