1/31 south La Jolla

Dropped my daughter off at school at 9AM, weatherman was saying 10-15 kts and a chance of T storms, but I gambled and was glad. Never more than 5 kts. Fished between Big Rock and Bird Rock in 80-95 feet. Could not find any bait, very quiet on top. Yoyoed iron and yoyoed plastic. One monster barracuda and a few lings. tried in the kelp and on the inside edge of the kelp for calicos por nada. Fun mid-day fishin' alot of whales passed outside and I saw one trying to take a shortcut through the kelp in 50 feet of water.

surfin' the rock

kelp is thick between 40-60 and deep even around 90 feet

after dropping through a bait ball, I was halfway up and got tagged on the big 7X.

Bigleadhead/yoyo style

sportie was out another 1/2 mile

Had to follow in a wave and scramble up the beach quick with the close interval surf, they'd come in doubles and triples.

nice

Andy,

Where is Big Rock? Is that the area south of Hospitals and north of Marine St.?

That kelp looks awesome. Oh I hope it sticks around this year.

Nate, south end of Wind n Sea. I think the kelp will have completely recovered by Spring.

Sorry Nate,
That area is undiveable due to the amount of indestructible Nazi Zombie Storm Troopers in the water.

Hey, I remember that movie from when I was a kid. The image of them running underwater is still vivid. I've wanted to hold a foot race like that for a long time.

So with the Nazi zombies...uh headshots will do the trick right?
