Boaters and Hoopnets= DISASTER!!!

So we went to the super secret location, and we set out our traps.

The sun went down, and I lost my virginity because i got my first BUGS EVER. I have never ever bought bugs because they are so EXpensive, sO this was a nice treat.

But getting back to my story:

This 20ft+ boat, i don't know what he was doing i guess he was laying down hoopnets and his prop get tangled on his rope and his hoopnet. His boat was slamming against the rockwall so George, Matt and I go to his aid. George was able to get this huge gaff stick from the boat owner because he didn't have a rope!!???? !!!! So George takes the huge 20ft gaff stick and hooks it up to the tail and peddle as hard as he can to steer it away from the rocks. We saw this other boat just sitting there and George asked the for help, but they didn't care. While Matt and put our bow to the back of his boat and push him away from the rocks. After we cut the line from his prop and about 25 mins laters we were able to remove the hoopnet from his prop and he was safe to start his engine again.

What do i have to say to this....

Well i got my bugs, so thats all i have to say on this matter.

On another note, Matt told me when he went to CDM he saw LINEs AND LINESs AND LINEs of commercial traps that you could not even navigate a kayak through. I agree with him that this guy destroy the fishery, and they take out on us poor guys who can't even afford to buy a lobster from them.

well that is my report

-signing out

Congrats on the help and not getting pounded into the rocks yourselves. Sounds like you can either be part of the problem or part of the solution and you all picked the later. Good karma always wins!

Next bug outing should be good for you!

Helping out felt good.

The attitude of many lobster fishermen out there very poor.

Ran into several people arguing, snotty attitudes and standoffish.

Its just fishing guys.

Big thanks to George, great coach, very generous with his time, info and loaner gear.

First cage/ first pull at least 10 bugs in there, I find one nice keeper. I did not have gloves (lesson1) and the creature tried to attack me, so I screamed like a little girl and drop him in the ocean.

Managed to find 4 keepers to take home.

Just what I needed, another hobby!

My first mistake was telling you to man handle your lobster

Glad you guys all went home with longostina. I'm already getting phone calls and text from family and friends regarding lobster. Its pretty funny how people like wsb, halibut and lobster after catch it, all year long not a word and all of a sudden everyone wants to be your friend on Facebook..

The lobster hoop netting croud is even surlier and ruder than the wsb crowd at north lj. And if you think the hooper vs. hooper is ad trying being in the water diving when all the yahoos are trying to own the ocean. Mike
