12/30 - 12/31 LJ Report

Late report with all the holiday stuff, I fished LJ Sat and Sun trying to scratch into the top 10 of WCW's. No luck on the whoppers, caught several sand bass on live macks. Sunday had lots of kelp debris on the surface, I thought I was marking lots of fish but later figured it was kelp debris underwater.

Congratulations to Brad and the other winners of thw WCW tourny. I enjoyed competing last year (yesterday) and look forward to this year.

I was working an iron through these lines. I don't think they are thermoclines, maybe bull kelp bulbs?

You don't see this everyday.

That was Brad's response too. I just thought it, but didn't say it over the radio. It suddenly starting gaining altitude after that joke.

I like the looks of that FF. How does the color part of it work for you?

It hasn't helped me catch any more fish than my old humminbird phirana, but it is cool to look at. Bait balls of macks show up as solid red balls, I'm guessing I've seen squid as lighter colored blobs not so round but not sure. I can see sand or rock bottom. From my perspective it would not be worth a $100 extra for a color unit. It's a power hog at full backlight brightness but I can get 10-12 hours on a 7ah battery by only using enough backlight as necessary.

Thanks, I've always wondered if color was worth the extra bucks. I had a Matrix with GPS on my old Extreme and that's the extra function on the ff that I miss the most. Color would be just a cool add on. I am going to get the upgrade on Google Earth and start making a log of all my trips using the GPS like you do. I love your fish reports with the visual's Google gives you.
