11/8 LJ Nice finish to a slow morning

Another prettyful morning with gobs of sun and hardly a breeze. I decided to try iron and plastic and headed straight SW. Not many fishing, saw a couple yaks later in the morning, few PBs and 2 sporties wandering around, they both finished around SW Ended up with a boney, sandie, whitefish and a mackeral bigger than them all. As I paddled in, around 100 yards out in front of the launch. I am looking down at the bottom and catch something out of the corner of my eye, directly in front of me on a collision course. I grabbed my camera as this lil grey whale passed right under me in 20 feet of water. Very cool way to end the morning. wish I had a polerizing lens as this does not do the image I saw any justice.

Cool shot Andy!

I have "cheated" and used my polarized sunglasses over the lens of my Pentax Optio camera in a pinch.

My questions is where's MAMA!!!

always cool to see the whales come through, unless they blow out right next to you without warning. A few of the yt at the nados lately have been almost the size of that whale .

I got about fifty-feet out and then suddenly the great beast

appeared before me. I tell ya he was ten stories high if he was a

foot. As if sensing my presence he gave out a big bellow. I said,

"Easy big fella!" And then as I watched him struggling I realized

something was obstructing his breathing. From where I was standing

I could see directly into the eye of the great fish!

Then from out of nowhere a huge title wave lifted, tossed like a

quark and I found myself on top of him face to face with the

blow-hole. I could barely see from all of the waves crashing down on

top of me but I knew something was there so I reached my hand and

pulled out the obstruction!

It really reminds me of the scene in "Castaway" when the whale surfaces

next to Tom Hanks' raft towards the end of the movie....
