Interesting.
I spent almost the entire day at La Jolla...not fishing on my yak unfortunately, but picnicking on the grass at La Jolla Cove with the wife and some friends. It was enjoyable enough...I did some snorkeling in and around the cove, listened to the band, etc. But I was keeping an eye on the kayaks out on the water throughout the day, longing to be out there. In the morning (9:30 am or so…when we arrived) there were many, many kayaks out on the water. Dozens of recreational yakkers, plus maybe a dozen or so fishing yaks, plus the usual dozen or so PBers. By the end of the day, between 6:30 and 7:30 PM or so, I saw only one kayaker fishing…way off shore about ¾ of mile perhaps…due west of Boomers beach…fishing in absolute solitude with no one else around. From grey or sand colored yak, it looked like. I wondered…”how’s that guy doing out there, are the yellows biting this evening? Damn I wish I could be out there…”

Thanks for the post, I think you may have answered that question, because I believe it must have been you that I was watching out there...oh so enviously.
