Zip. Nada. Nunca. Nothing!!!!!!!

Thought I'd try a new spot last night and launched from Seal Beach. I've always looked at that jetty while surf fishing and thought I'd like to give it a shot for lobster. So we arrive at Seal Beach at 530 pm and unload all our gear right on the sand. It was a short drag across the beach to the water and a easy launch with ankle-slappers. We dropped our first set of nets shallow: about 50 yds. from shore and 10-12 ft of water... let 'em soak.. and pulled them for nothing. As the night went on we worked our way down the jetty all the way to the end, couldn't even pull up a single short. We saw some divers who had said they got a few legals... Up until last night I at least thought I knew what I was doing... I mean, c'mon! Not even one short?!?! What... Did my dog piss on my bait when I wasn't looking or something?!?!

The highlight of the night was 2 large sculpin and the luminescent waters.

We ended up leaving the water at 1030, confused and wondering WhAT THe... ?!?!?

I have done Seal Beach in the past and do not bother any more. A good night there is 1 lobster and tons of rock crab.

72nd

Try 72nd? never caught anything on the sb side but the lb side I had some good luck. Not sure if its legal to be there with boat traffic but we had good success back in the day.

Thanks Andy. Is there any particular conditions you've identified about that jetty that I can learn from? I gotta' take something away from that night for other spots. It's a lot of work coming all the way from Riverside to end-up so empty handed.
